High Abstraction for the Lower Classes
I have this distant memory of going to see a tower block being demolished when I was a kid, I think it was in Croxteth, Liverpool. I remember it being this spectacle that was too big and powerful to comprehend - an absolute visual euphoria that has always stuck with me. Using this image as a starting point I have been collating footage of this demolition and have expanded that out to getting as many clips of council tower blocks being demolished through implosion as possible.
By using screen grabs from the footage, splicing, cutting and overlaying I have made this series of collages in order to make sense of this archive and better understand these memories / sites / images.
